“Unmasking Supply Chains” – Change! Research Project
In early November 2025, the institute welcomed Dr. Lene Guercke as a Volkswagen Foundation Change! Fellow. In collaboration with the practice partner European Center for Constitutional and Human Rights (ECCHR), she leads the project Unmasking Supply Chains: leveraging digital human rights investigations for corporate accountability (2025-2030) and will set up a junior research group at FAU.
“Unmasking Supply Chains” is funded through the Change! initiative, which supports transdisciplinary research related to societal transformation. The project’s aim is to apply new and innovative open source fact-finding techniques to supply chain investigations and to critically reflect on their potential and limitations in the field of corporate accountability.
By setting up a Supply Chain Investigations Lab at FAU, the project will provide practical insights into conducting supply chain investigations in an ethical, safe, inclusive, and resilient manner, and producing digital evidence that may be used in human rights advocacy or litigation processes. The project will also provide digital skills to participating students, researchers, and practice partners.
