Transatlantic relations

The transatlantic partnership between Europe and the USA is one of the most important components for european and german foreign policy. Based on shared values and interests the transatlantic relations resulted in high social, political and economic integration.

The professorship for International Relations and Political Economy is concerned with the historical and prospective evolution of the transatlatic relations and possible challenges.

During the winter semester 2016/17 Prof. Dr. Stefan Fröhlich participated at the „Transatlantic Academy“ in Washington D.C. to research about “Germany and the United States in the 21st Century”. From september 2016 till may 2017 he was Senior Fellow of the German Marshall Fund and published the following articels:

German and european foreign- and security policy

Confronted by different crises in society, economy and politics Germany`s foreign policy ist heavily challenged. Most of these challenges are managed via the European Union.

The professorship for International Relations and Political Economy analyses the essential dimensions and tools of german and european foreign policy and the german role within the European Union and the global order.

American foreign- and security policy

Because of their military and economic power and global integration as well as their cultural attractiveness the foreign policy of the USA are extremly important for the International Relations.

The professorship for International Relations and Political Economy in Erlangen researches the foreign policy of the United States from a theoretical and historical perspectiv. Also policy and regional specifics are analysed.
