Chair of Political Philosophy, Political Theory and History of Political Ideas (Prof. Dr. Eva Marlene Hausteiner)
About the Chair
The chair for “Political Theory and History of Political Thought” addresses the conceptual, systematic, historical, critical, and normative foundations of politics. We teach a variety of subjects from the history of political thought and contemporary political theory at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Research at the chair focuses on the modern history of political ideas and concepts, international political theory, and the study of political narratives.
Eva Marlene Hausteiner has held the Chair of Political Theory and History of Ideas since October 2022. After studying political science, Russian studies, and economics, Prof. Dr. Hausteiner received her Ph.D. from the Humboldt University in Berlin in 2014 and her habilitation from the University of Bonn in 2021. She has held guest professorships at the University of Greifswald and the University of Passau. Her research focuses on the history of political thought since the 19th century, modern democratic theory, the study of imperial and federal thought, and political iconography and narratology. As part of a project funded by the Volkswagen Foundation’s “Suspicion of Originality” program, she is currently investigating proposals for the temporal limitation of political order in the history of ideas.
