The Chair of International Relations focuses its research and teaching on questions of global order, with particular emphasis on the role and agency of actors from the Global South in contemporary processes of transformation and their historical trajectories. Thematic areas of focus include international security policy, international human rights politics, and peace and conflict research.
In our courses, we introduce students to the fundamental theoretical approaches, methods, and schools of thought in International Relations and apply them empirically to different fields of international politics and across a broad geographical range.
Since the winter semester 2026/27, the professorship is held by Prof. Dr. Tobias Berger.
