We congratulate Alicja Polakiewicz on the successful defense of her doctoral dissertation, “International Justice, Domestic Politics: Universal Jurisdiction in Germany.” The members of the committee—Prof. Dr. Katrin Kinzelbach (FAU), Prof. Dr. Susanne Buckley-Zistel (University of Marburg), and Prof. Dominik Müller (FAU)—examined the doctoral candidate on July 8 at the FAU Center for Human Rights in Nuremberg. One day after her defense, Alicja Polakiewicz also published a related article titled “The Elephant in the Courtroom,” which explores the concept and practice of judicial hospitality.
