About the Chair

Research and teaching at the Chair of Political Science is focused on politics in Germany and comparative political science in general and traditional comparative government, policy orientated comparative public policy, political economy, infrastructure policy, local politics and European integration in particular. Additional key activities include the analysis of international relations and corpus based discourse studies. Since 1996 we have conducted a couple of (international) research projects. Special graduation programs offer an additional source for training. The work at the Chair of Political Science I has resulted in a couple of standard works about federalism, the United Kingdom, Europeanization and has given innovative impulses to many research fields like environmental policy in Europe, coalition governments, conflict in and between states, the regulatory state and the transformation of political system as well as normative theories about federalism and the federalism paradox.
